A hierarchical reserving model for reported non-life insurance claims

چکیده
Traditional non-life reserving models largely neglect the vast amount of information collected over lifetime a claim. This includes covariates describing policy, claim cause as well detailed history during claim's development time. We present hierarchical model modular framework for integrating and claim-specific into process. Hierarchical decompose joint likelihood process Moreover, they are tailored to portfolio at hand by adding layer each events registered (e.g. settlement, payment). Layers modelled with statistical learning generalized linear models) or machine methods gradient boosting machines) use covariates. As result its flexibility, this incorporates many existing models, ranging from aggregate designed run-off triangles individual using connection allows us develop data-driven strategy choosing between reserving; an important decision practitioners. illustrate our method case study on real insurance data set deduce new insights in driving claims. we evaluate method's performance large number simulated portfolios representing several realistic scenarios demonstrate flexibility robustness model.

A copula based Bayesian approach for paid–incurred claims models for non-life insurance reserving
Our article considers the class of recently developed stochastic models that combine claims payments and incurred losses information into a coherent reserving methodology. In particular, we develop a family of hierarchical Bayesian paid–incurred claims models, combining the claims reserving models of Hertig (1985) and Gogol (1993). In the process we extend the independent log-normal model of Me...
متن کاملFuzzy claim reserving in non-life insurance
This paper develops several expressions to quantify claim provisions to account in financial statements of a non-life insurance company under the hypothesis of a fuzzy environment. Concretely, by applying the expected value of a fuzzy number and the more general concept of value of a fuzzy number to the ANOVA claim predicting model [2] we estimate claim reserves to account in insurer’s balance ...
متن کاملStochastic Claims Reserving in General Insurance
This paper considers a wide range of stochastic reserving models for use in general insurance, beginning with stochastic models which reproduce the traditional chain-ladder reserve estimates. The models are extended to consider parametric curves and smoothing models for the shape of the development run-off, which allow extrapolation for the estimation of tail factors. The Bornhuetter-Ferguson t...
متن کاملHierarchical Insurance Claims Modeling
This work describes statistical modeling of detailed, micro-level automobile insurance records. We consider 1993-2001 data from a major insurance company in Singapore. By detailed micro-level records, we refer to experience at the individual vehicle level, including vehicle and driver characteristics, insurance coverage and claims experience, by year. The claims experience consists of detailed ...
متن کاملClaims Reserving Using Tweedie’s Compound Poisson Model
We consider the problem of claims reserving and estimating run-off triangles. We generalize the gamma cell distributions model which leads to Tweedie’s compound Poisson model. Choosing a suitable parametrization, we estimate the parameters of our model within the framework of generalized linear models (see Jørgensen-de Souza [2] and Smyth-Jørgensen [8]). We show that these methods lead to reaso...
